About Me

This is an old picture, but I'm inspiring myself to let my hair grow out, so I'm choosing this one for such a time as this πŸ˜€

I think the "About Me" page is always the most challenging; kind of like writing the bio on the back of your book. It's hard!

But here goes...

I'm a wife, mom, mother-in-law, Millie (to my 5 g-babies), daughter, sister, niece and friend. I love my people, but I'm not perfect at any of those roles I play. I wish I was. Perfection is something I strive for, but never achieve. If you're a perfectionist, you're nodding your head in agreement right now. If you've managed to kick perfection in the teeth, then I'm envious of you πŸ˜€ I haven't achieved that goal yet.

I'm a homemaker at heart. It's my happy place - being at home, taking care of home and family.

I've occasionally tried to move on to bigger arenas, but the Lord always guides me gently home, as he is so good at doing.

I love budgeting, because I'm a weirdo and love putting the puzzle together every month, of where to spend, save and give. It's fun and I love it!

I love purses and will buy them until I am too old to care. I'm not much on shoes, as most women are and I'm not a fashionable girl, beyond jeans and a decent shirt. I only wear jewelry that has sentimental value to me and that's why you'll see the same pair of earrings in every picture.

I love music, reading, puzzles, paper crafts and planners.

I love Mexican food, Italian, chocolate and coffee and will eat ice cream any or every day, even though it's the cause of me needing to be on a perpetual diet.

I've written several books and a women's Bible study, as well as many articles for magazines.

I'm not a public speaker, although in 2014 I had the great privilege of speaking in a national storytelling show called Listen to Your Mother, where I was part of a cast of writers who all told stories of motherhood. It was the most terrifying, delightful time I've ever had! You can still catch the video on YouTube, if you dare.

I'm an "idea" person and have way too many ideas in my head at all times. I've sadly passed this trait onto my kids, for which I (and their wives) are often the recipients of a constant flow of words on said ideas. Sorry guys!

I've been married to my amazing husband for 33 years. We met in a hurricane, which is no lie, and were engaged within 3 months. We are total opposites and usually just laugh at God's sense of humor on that one.  He's a great man and calls me his best friend, which I always tell him is so corny and clichΓ©, to which he just laughs πŸ˜€ We were absolutely made for each other.

I love my kids (of course) and also adore my daughters-in-law. They are both beautiful young women and I treasure their friendships so much. They are kind and sensitive and make my boys so happy, which in turn, makes me so happy. But I would love them even if they weren't in our family because they are precious.

And, the crown of being married this long...our 5 grand babies. Basically they melt me. And I spoil them because I'm not sure how you don't. That's that.

So...there you have it! That's me in a nutshell. I'm all about family and my faith, though I'm struggling just like the rest of you. My heart's desire is to walk with Jesus every day and I fail repeatedly. But I get up the next day and try it all over again; resting in his grace and knowing that I'm loved and saved, in spite of my shortcomings.

Hope you've enjoyed getting to know me a tiny bit πŸ˜€ I've had fun sharing!
