As I wrote in my previous post, we took a trip to South Texas last weekend to visit my family and we stayed in my aunt's lake house on Lake Corpus Christi, also known as Mathis Lake. This is the same lake that I write about in my book, Notes From a Writer's Heart, in Chapter 2.
I thought I'd share that here for you to read today...

The Lake
“We’re going to the lake!”
Just those words would conjure up
such memories.
Shasta sodas,
ice chests full of sandwich fixings,
beach towels,
flip flops,
sunscreen
and
riding in the bed of the truck.
The lake was a muddy bottom mess,
but we didn’t care.
Swimming,
eating,
wrapping up in a cozy towel….
these were the memories of
summer.
The lake holds lots of memories for me of times with family, as a child, and then again bringing my own kids here for family gatherings.
This time it was just a quick cup of coffee standing on the pier with David, but memories just the same.
Speaking of memories, this is David's last weekend before starting his new job. Can you believe it's been 3 months? I will write more about that next week. As always, God has been good to us in so many ways over the past 3 months. We've spent lots of time together and watched God put together some pretty cool pieces to lead up to this next season.
Until next week...have a great weekend!
Blessings!
Beautiful lake, looks as smooth as glass.
ReplyDeleteHope David enjoys his last weekend before work starts. Good luck and hope all goes well.
Thank you, Karen :) He will be building some swings this weekend. Had to put him to work on one last project :)
DeleteThe lake looks so peaceful. You have such good memories! So good to hear about the new job starting soon.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mrs. White :) The lake was very peaceful that weekend.
