Happy Tuesday everyone!
I hope you're having a great week so far. Obviously I've been busy moving and unpacking, so I've barely had time to write, not to mention it took a few days to get the computer put back in place and my office somewhat put together. But here I am and I survived 😅
I thought I would share a few pictures of the spaces that look halfway finished for now. Starting with this really fun refrigerator the sellers GAVE to us!
Somehow my realtor made this part of the package. It's the Samsung refrigerator that has a screen on front and connects to wi-fi. I never would have bought something like this, but I sure am having fun with it, now that it's mine.

Just to the right of the baking cabinet is the tiny dining room, which is actually my favorite room in the house. It's a bay window shaped room right off the kitchen and just big enough for this table and an old antique dry sink against the wall (out of view). During the day this room has all the natural light. Yesterday I ate my lunch here and it was so peaceful.
Not only can you write memos, keep your calendar, watch tv and listen to music, but you can also connect to your phone and see what's inside the fridge while you're at the grocery store. I will never use that feature (I'm still a pen and paper girl), but it's pretty cool, nonetheless.
This is another thing that was left for us - and has now become my baking station. I have all of my baking supplies here, as well as all of my glass jars underneath.

We left Collin and Morgan our farm table, as they are moving into our house we just left and it will be perfect for their growing family.
We don't have curtains on the windows yet, but thankfully the blinds were left behind. As you can see, I've got a pumpkin on the table, but Christmas pillows in the chairs and that's ok 😀 Sometimes you can celebrate all the things, at the same time and have fun with it all.
Yesterday I did my grocery shopping at Walmart and picked up a few additional items. I found this adorable, cottagy kitchen mat and it goes perfectly with all of my quirky, cottage decor.
I want this house to be filled with color and fun decor and give off a cozy, comfortable and welcoming feeling when friends and family walk in.

🏡
The rest of this week will be all about staying home and getting every box unpacked. We have 4 bedrooms in this little cottage and thankfully that 4th room has been a great holding place for all the stuff that has yet to be put away. The closets are big and roomy and the bedrooms are plenty big. So far, we are loving the house and feel very "at home" already.
Why Did We Move Again?
🏡 On my last post I had a comment asking why we were moving again, so I thought I would explain, in case there was anyone else who was confused.
Originally we moved into the big house because we were expecting to take care of my MIL and needed a place big enough for her. But just after we bought the house, she needed to go to a nursing home to get the care she really needed. So that left us stuck with a big house we didn't need.
Last summer we moved out so we could sell it, but it never sold, so we finally had to move back because we couldn't keep paying rent on an apartment and a house note. Before we moved back in, we did some updating such as flooring, paint, and updating all the fans and light fixtures, knowing that we would someday need to sell it.
Fast forward to my husband getting the job as a city manager, and we were required to live within the city limits of that town, so that's how we got here. 😅 🏡
Do we like moving? NO, but sometimes life requires that you do it, so here we are. I hope that clears it up for anyone who was curious.
💛 Something I've talked about before and I think has merit to it, is how a house can make you feel. Our first night here, David and I both agreed that this house felt like us. It felt like home. I can't say we've felt that in a few years, so that's why it was really noticeable. And it's a good feeling, to feel at home in your house.
Some houses fit you and some don't. Take that for what it's worth to you, but keep it in the back of your mind if your house doesn't seem like home. It's ok to move on and find the place that's right for you. I know it's not easy to pack up and move, so I don't say all of this lightly. But of all the places that need to wrap you in coziness and comfort, it should be your own home. 💛
Well, that's all I've got for today. I'm off to make some cinnamon rolls. There's rumor of some rain and colder weather making its way down to Texas. I hope that's true! I'm ready for it 😊
Take care, my friends.
Until Next Time...
Blessings!
