Hey Friends...
It's early Monday morning. I've just fixed my coffee and I'm sitting down to catch up on everyone's blog.
It's a promising day, stretched out in all of it's perfectly, ordinary way.
It's going to be a day of cooking and cleaning, routines and slowness.
Today I have visions of loving my home, enjoying my homemaking, preparing food that will bring us warmth and comfort tonight as we sit to eat.
I will go outside mid-morning and water the plants, who have waited patiently for me.
I will sort, wash, dry and fold laundry, probably while watching a favorite show.
I will wipe the bathrooms, vacuum the floors, straighten the couch cover and pillows for the umpteenth time.
I will cook the chicken for the chicken spaghetti I've been craving.
I will make a smoothie.
I will let the dog out so he can pretend to catch the bunnies who are living under the shed.
I will stay busy until lunch. Then I will sit and eat and maybe read this great book I've been reading.
Maybe I'll make a grilled cheese.
I will tidy up after lunch and then head to my office to begin a long-awaited project of purging and organizing all of the journals I've written in for the last few years.
Is there a book or two hiding amongst the pages? I'm hoping there is.
I will work until it's time to take a break and then perhaps I'll go outside for a walk, to waken myself.
I might fix coffee. I probably will.
I need to call my sister. I need to check on my mom.
David will call at some point.
I'll feed the dog and give him multiple treats, which he really didn't earn, but he's too old to accept that.
Toward the end of the afternoon, I'll make my way to the kitchen, turn on Coffee with Kate, whom I listen to every day, and begin to prepare dinner. That's when I'll empty the dishwasher too.
I'll wait for the door to open and I'll greet David, just as I did when he left that morning.
I'll finish preparing supper and we'll proceed to catch up on each other's day.
When the evening persists, we will settle down for our evening routine and find great comfort in the mundane way we've grown so fond of.
We are comfortable. We are content. We are happy.
We will lay our heads down on this night and give our thanks to the Lord for allowing us to be so blessed.
I hope you will too.
Until Next Time...
Blessings!
