Happy Tuesday my friends! Would you look at those delicious scones I made yesterday!
I love scones and yet they aren't something you see too often here, so I finally bought my own scone pan and made a simple vanilla scone to try out.
My daughter-in-love, Alex, sent me this simple recipe for Vanilla Scones and it was very simple. It calls for all the basic ingredients that are normally in the pantry, so they are something you could make most any day.
Here's a look at the pan I bought. It's a simple silicone pan that I found on Amazon. I sprayed it with cooking spray and the scones popped right out when they finished baking. (Please excuse the aged pan in the picture. This was David's grandmother's pan and we've had it forever. It's a tried and true old friend, as you can see.)
After the scones were cooled a bit, I made the simple vanilla icing, which consisted of powdered sugar, vanilla and milk. The recipe made plenty of icing for this one batch of scones, which is good because the scones aren't very sweet. That's what I actually like about scones, is the fact that they aren't icky sweet.
I think next time, I'll experiment with some add-ins, such as orange zest and cranberries. I know I'll eventually have to make blueberry scones, as that will be David's favorite.
Once they were iced, I had to make a cup of coffee to go with and I sat down to catch a few minutes of When Calls The Heart ๐ I'm smiling because my little girls have finished the entire series and every time they come for Millie Day, they ask what episode I'm on, so I'm doing my best to move along.
As I'm writing this post this morning, I'm eating a scone for breakfast, along with my morning coffee, and they taste as good today as they did right out of the oven.
