Get The Coffee Going - It's 4am

 Happy Thursday, my friends!

It's early and David and I have already been up for almost two hours. We are waking up at 4:00 am these days; sometimes by choice and other times out of habit. Occasionally we can force ourselves to fall back to sleep, but it doesn't last long. We usually just get up and get the coffee going. We hear from other friends our age, that they too are waking up in the wee hours of the morning, so I guess we are just at that age.

This week I've done a bit of everything around here. Monday I prepped for Millie School. I cleaned out the school cabinet and got their worksheets ready. That takes me a few hours every Monday, which I don't mind. I asked the girls if they wanted to take a break in the summer and they all said in unison..."NO!" 😅 So I will be making plans for a lighter load for summer days, but enough to keep them learning.

Summer is always one of my favorite seasons with kids. I love the days of them playing in the backyard, drinking lemonade and running through the sprinkler or playing in the little pool. I have such fun memories of those days with my own boys and now to do it with grandchildren is such a blessing.

Tuesday we had school, which went well (always does, actually). I then took the girls to a new library, which has a wonderful children's section. They found a stack of books to check out, but we had to stay even longer so they could play with all of the cool toys that were available.

By the time I got home, after dropping them off, it was after 3pm and I was exhausted. I got a snack and watched tv for an hour or so, just to recover 😅

Yesterday I decided to have a full day at home and catch up on some office things, housework and cleaning up my computer.

I've been researching this iCloud thing, (I can see my kids rolling their eyes right now). I'm sick of being harassed by the iCloud, saying I need to pay for more space! I didn't ask for the cloud and I'm determined to not use it, just because Apple says so. So anyway, I spent some much needed time deleting old pictures, downloads and anything else that gets collected on my computer over time. I made some progress, but still have a ways to go.

I have so many pictures on my phone and computer (and in a cabinet, in boxes) Ugggg! Photos are overwhelming, aren't they? That's an entire project, in itself. I've tried to get better about only keeping those that are really special, but when you have 7 grandkids...it's hard! They are too cute 😀

Today I have some errands to run, as we are getting ready for an upcoming trip. We haven't had luggage in YEARS, and have been using duffle bags and totes anytime we would go anywhere. So we agreed that it was time to actually have proper suitcases, so that's on the agenda for today.

I can't believe it's already the end of this week! That went by fast.

Well, I hope all is well in your corner of the world. This week Texas has finally gotten the rain we've been asking for, in abundance, so everything is green once again. At least here in our area.

Have a wonderful Thursday and may you get the rain or the sun; whichever you need today. 🌞

Until Next Time...

Blessings!

  1. Sounds like you have had a very productive week. I sure admire you for having Millie's school...this is a huge blessing not only for your grands, but for you as well. This is something that will forever be in your hearts. How exciting to be taking a trip. Wherever you go, I pray for safety for each of you. Have fun, relax and take it all in. We have heavy rains headed our way today. My poor zinnias are not looking so good from all the rain we have had. blessings...

  2. I can't believe you are waking up at 4! I usually get up about 7:30, but I tend to stay up late at night, usually at least midnight....
Photos really can be a lot to take care of. I do a newsletter for church so I always have a lot of pics from that and I have to remember to delete them when the newsletter comes out. I already fill my storage with enough pics of my own!
Hooray for a trip- hope you have a great time!

  3. A couple of years ago I bit the bullet and purchased additional cloud storage from Apple. My $1 per month will give me enough room for everything for a couple of decades!

  4. I think the extra early mornings just comes from habit - years of working. I haven't worked in ages and still get up early every day.
I can think of lots of activities that would be fun over the summer and somewhat a learning activity as well.

  5. We too are often up around 4 am and just start our day earlier because of it... of course that means I'm wiped out by like 8 but whatever.

  6. My dearest is the early bird. He is usually awake and up at 5 am. By the time I get up at 7, he has turned on the cofee pot that I parpared the night before. He reads and studies until I get up and we have our coffee and devotion time together.
My, you do have a busy schelule. But it sounds like you are just the one for the job and should be a fun summer.

  8. I would need an early bedtime with a regular 4am wakeup call! I do wakeup at that time some days, but try to fall back asleep. I hope you were able to find some luggage. There are so many options out there! I agree with the photo storage being overwhelming. It is hard to delete pictures and videos of the little ones!

  10. OMGOSH this post made me chuckle when you talked about APple and the c loud. You sound JUST LIKE my 59 yr old hubby. (I'm 66). our 2 daughters and my self are always telling him, IGNORE the icloud emails!! they just want you to buy more storage and no your photos won't disappear but you do need to go through them and delete some or push them into FB or a folder on your laptop so you can have more room in the phone. HAHA he sounds just like you!

So...this is my first time visiting your blog and I love it.

I used to have to get up at 5 /5:15 AM to get to my full time Special Ed teaching job (hard when the girls were young) so now that i'm retired, I do NOT get out of bed before 6 or 6:30. In fact, today I woke up around 4:30, stretched and was able to thankfully fall back asleep until 6:45!! I can stay up later now (11 pm) and read which is something I couldn't do when I was teaching. I always needed to be in bed by 10:30.

So do you homeschool your grandchildren???

  12. Wow, I can't imagine getting up at 4:00 -- but maybe that's because I usually go to bed so late,
It must have made you feel good that the girls enjoy Millie school so much they don't want a summer break.
Where are you going on your trip?

Friendly comments are always welcomed. I read them all, even though I don't always reply, just for the sake of time. But I am grateful for every one :)
