Why Are You Celebrating DEATH?

Dear Friends...

Today I have to rant a little about something that has taken over lovely October.

Skeletons.

I don't know about the trends in your part of the country, but in our parts we've been overrun with an obsession with skeletons during the entire month of October and it's really getting on my nerves!

October is a month of ushering in Autumn, falling leaves, changing colors and cool breezes. It's a time when we can take a walk, play at the park, visit a pumpkin patch and enjoy the upcoming holiday season.

But instead, every street is filled with skeletons!

Skeletons on fences, buried in yards, even in the Sonic drive-thru (attached to the speaker!!) and I'm so sick of it!

Do you know what skeletons represent? DEATH.

Are you celebrating DEATH?

Really? Because I would rather celebrate LIFE.

Why would anyone stage DEATH all over their yard, to come home every day to DEATH hanging out on your mailbox, your doorstep, the yard where your children play?

I think it's the perfect example of the demise of people's hearts.

In this country we've seen enough death and destruction. We don't need to display it in our own front yard or the city streets.

Thanks for listening...

Until Next Time...

Celebrate LIFE!

  1. I'm with you about the skeletons. But I have been seeing them in various places (doing various things) since January and with more and more appearing through the summer and fall months. I don't understand this trend. Why aren't people celebrating life?

  2. I agree. Our world is topsy turvy in a lot of ways!

  3. This is so true. None of it brings cheer. It is dark and depressing. I am enjoying the beauty of nature all around and trying to avoid going out more than necessary.

  4. To be honest, I never really never thought about it. We don't have skeletons at our house, just scarecrows, lol. Wishing you a lovely day. smiles

  5. I agree! I've never enjoyed Halloween, and have always just decorated for Fall. We are traveling right now and have mentioned how many skeletons are all over. It has certainly increased. I don't get it.

  6. I am not a Halloween person either. It does however, have a long history around the globe. https://www.bestproducts.com/lifestyle/a44614490/why-do-we-celebrate-halloween/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=mgu_ga_bp_md_pmx_hybd_mix_us_22873461031&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22873462498&gbraid=0AAAAADpdINRN7Ly3J3qe3PO-HOg1_wmSh&gclid=CjwKCAjwmNLHBhA4EiwA3ts3md-lPGP9A9-kQAKjFKXGJaphN2XdmrV2VjSUF_kVkffbJzz-D2vz3hoCljAQAvD_BwE

  7. Good food for thought.

In my mind, skeletons can be thought of in two ways. One is the way you describe (and go along with horror, gruesomeness, and negativity). The other is more positive, in line with Christian symbolism where skeletons symbolize mortality and the fleeting nature of life..

    1. But I'm guessing that most people who decorate with skeletons don't put that much thought into the issue :-)

  8. I am in absolute complete without a doubt agreement with you. I was already offended by the graveyard headstones people used to decorate their front yards for Halloween. Now it's the skeletons, and there seem to be many more with every passing year. Maybe I take things too literally, but especially after the death of my first husband in 2020, any Halloween celebration of death is abhorrent to me. Yes, I am profoundly thankful that Tom is with Jesus Christ in Heaven now, but to play around in any way with death for a holiday decoration is terrible.

    1. You absolutely don't take stuff too literally. Lady Gaga's music performance at this year's Coachella was nothing short of a satanic ritual, the stage and her piano was decorated with skeletons and the demonic symbolism was obvious. 9. Spot on and a very timely observation. They have become popular as tattoos also which I find odd, and in the already corrupt music industry. Theres an uptick in Satanic activity in the world as exemplified by the increase in requests for clergy, priests expert in exorcism. All alarming IMO however too many folks are so glued to social media, streaming, videos that they fail to see the danger around them...Sweetallysum
