Happy Monday, my friends!
Well, another Mother's Day has come and gone and mine was full of blessings of the best kind. It was kind of a mixed up day, but those are the best when you can roll with the punches and go with the flow.
I texted all my favorite moms - sisters, aunts, friends, daughters-in-loves and my mom, got to talk to some on the phone, then we met the kids and grandkids at a local bakery, which we didn't expect to be crowded and boy were we wrong!
The meet up was chaotic, with moms, dads, babies - standing in long lines for dessert, one mommy having to spend it in the car with hungry baby and fussy toddler. Just pure chaos, but somehow we managed to get hugs, exchange some really sweet gifts and laugh about the memories the day will hold.
We all agreed that next year we will forego the cafe and just meet at home, like we normally do.
The kids gave me the sweetest gifts, but the cards are always my favorites. David gave me some sweet cards too and told me to buy myself something, but I didn't want to spend the money (plus I had splurged on a new book this week, so there's that 😅).
When my kids were growing up, I would always tell them that the best gift they could ever give me was a card with their feelings written down. Gifts are great, but the words will be the true treasure, every time.
I still feel that way.
Today begins a new week of working. I'll try to do some decluttering each day, either on my lunch break or when I get home in the evenings. I actually enjoy shedding some of these possessions. With every load to the thrift store or as we sell things off, I feel lighter, in a strange way. I'll never be a minimalist, but sometimes we hold on to things that just clutter up our homes and it feels good to let some of that stuff go.
I need to work in the garage, but ever since David found that snake in there, I'm hesitant to pick up any boxes. Any tips on this? 😳
I would put on big, rubber boots...but they're in the garage!
Tune in later to see whether I make it in there or not 😁
But for now, I'm off to get ready for the day. I had a nightmare that I overslept and had to run to the library just before opening time, in my pjs and no make up. Yikes! Don't want that dream to come true, so I'd better get going.
Have a wonderful day, my friends!
Until Next Time...
Blessings!
NO i would not go to the garage after there was a snake in there. I don't do snakes or mice. I am thankful that your Mothers Day was nice even with the chaos. We had all six grandbabies and parents here and after everyone left, my husband said it was a bit crowded.
ReplyDeleteOh girl! I hate snakes and think they are all cobras and will be dealt with accordingly! I would venture to the garage but in full armor and properly weaponized!
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a wonderful Mother's Day!
Grace & Peace,
Pam

ReplyDeleteRun, screaming, to the realtor and MOVE.
AAAaaaaaaaiiiiEEEEEEEE!
🏃🏻♀️🐍
Your petunias are gorgeous. Your Mother's Day sounded fabulous. Hmm, no on snakes. Have David get the boots and shake them out first. Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteBest tip (post snake discovery)....stay out of the garage!! Ugh. Glad you had a wonderful weekend. Chaotic but a great memory!
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a good Mother's Day. Chaos = a day always remembered and talked about.
ReplyDeleteEating out on Mother's Day can be a nightmare. We try to avoid it by celebrating on Friday or Sat. This year the kids helped me give the living room a face lift. That was the best gift of all. I do believe cards with handwritten messages are the best of all. It seems to be a lost art. Yikes, a snake in the garage. That's as bad as the possum that made a nest under the hood of my car!!! Have a great week, and no more nightmares about work. HaHa
ReplyDeleteSo glad you had a lovely Mother's Day overall dear Gal. 🌸💗 Agreed, that the cards and sentiments are everything! That's why I make sure when I scrapbook it's as much about the memories I share in there and write - vs being all about the photos. I can't help you with the snake situation. Nope, nope, nope. In the northwoods I have to deal with mosquitos, ticks, little garden snakes, spiders....and that's as much as I'm willing to handle. 😂
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful picture of the bucket of petunias. I agree with you..it's those cards that are so special...I have boxes and boxes of cards from family all packed away. I would definitely be the same about going into the garage. I'm guessing you all have decided to downsize and you are working to free up things that you don't need...I did that a few months ago and it feels so good. Glad your Mother's day was filled with family and love.
ReplyDeleteI found this on the Internet: To deter snakes, a combination of environmental modifications and the use of snake repellents can be effective. Eliminating hiding places, food sources, and moisture, along with the use of strong-smelling repellents like vinegar, ammonia, or specific essential oils can help keep snakes away from your property.
ReplyDeleteI have used a granular snake repellant in the past that can be easily sprinkled about.
I'm with you. It's the cards that mean the most.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful picture of the flower-filled bucket on your porch.
As for the garage, no way I would be going in there after the snake was found. haha.
Hi, friend! I'm so behind on blog reading, so it was good to catch up with you here. I hope your week has gone well, and that you figured out a way to make it into your garage. I have to say, you made me laugh with this story. I would have freaked out if I'd seen a snake in my garage! You're probably handling it way better than I would have. I like to stay home on Mother's Day for the same reason: to avoid the crowds. This year we had a hodgepodge lunch of things, and it worked; it wasn't about the food, but the company. I know you feel the same! I look forward to catching up with you more soon!
ReplyDeleteI am a 68 year old lady living in Montreal, Canada, and if I saw a snake it would spook me, for sure. Lovely photos. You have a very nice blog. I also love your blog header and the Gingham background!
ReplyDeleteCards from our children are definitely the best gifts! I hope you have a wonderful week!
