Hello friends...
Happy Monday! I hope your weekend was amazing, filled with time with family or friends or both.
David and I had a great weekend. I kept Asa on Friday for a few hours, which is always a treat. He is starting to linger a little longer over certain toys, which means he's growing up a bit. I always love the time I have with him.
Saturday I was desperately wanting to get out of the house for a few hours, so David and I went to one of our favorite resale shops. The minute we walked in, we found some classic toys by Fisher Price. Once I get them cleaned up, I will show you all. They were $2.00, which was a bargain!
Then we ate lunch out and headed to the hardware store for some materials for the next house project David wants to work on.
Yesterday we had a great time at church, catching up with everyone and hearing a wonderful message and worship. We missed last week because we went to the kid's church to hear the girls sing, which is always a blessing.
This week I am starting a few new things to challenge myself.
For one, I joined up with a friend who is hosting a fitness challenge on Facebook, where you commit to exercising just 15 minutes per day. I can do that! It's already encouraging to see the comments from the other participants and how they plan to accomplish their goals. It helps to do these things together.
Second, I am starting NaNoWriMo on November 1st (Wednesday), and have a goal of writing 50,000 words by November 30th. The goal is to write for two 30 minute sessions per day, with 840 words per session. This is a free challenge that happens twice a year and this will be my first time to try it. NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month. My project will be non-fiction, of course.
I'm excited for both of these goals! I need to challenge myself more and I think these will be a good exercise in discipline for me. I'll let you know 😅
Today I have a grocery pick up and will come home and get started on this week's to-do list. Lot's of little things to do, plus the regular chores, getting ready for family dinner tomorrow night, bills, cleaning and now exercise and writing.
I hope you all are doing well! I'm looking forward to catching up on your blog this week, as well.
Take care and,
Until Next Time...
Blessings!
Your grands will love the toys you found once you clean them up! I love coming across great finds like that. Your weekend and beginning of week sound lovely! I've heard of this writing challenge from someone else. I haven't been doing much of that kind of thing lately, and I miss it! I should definitely make more time for it when I can find some to spare. I hope you have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteHi Jennifer :) Yes, maybe you should try the writing challenge! You go at your own pace, but try to reach the goal by the end of the month.
DeleteHow cool on the toy find. Your goals sounds great. I know others that do the writing challenge. Have a lovely week.
ReplyDeleteHi Cheryl, the toys were a great find. Have a wonderful week and I'll come visit your blog :)
DeleteGood morning, my friend! I absolutely LOVE Fisher Price toys! Madison is almost twentyseven, and her baby toys are my favorite. They have no flashing lights or loud noise. They don't require batteries. I kept them all and by the time Flynn was born thirteen years later, I was so thankful I did. Everything available then was so busy! I prefer calming, quiet toys that encourage creativity and relaxation. I still have them, tucked away, waiting for grandchildren. May I ask what kind of exercise you are planning on? I think I can do 15 minutes, but where to begin?? Have a cozy afternoon!
ReplyDeleteBillie Jo, how special that you kept so many things! I've told my kids to keep all the special toys, because one day they will want to pass them on. As far as exercise, I am doing a combination each day of some 5 lb arm weights (5 minutes), riding my bike or walking, some stretching and just trying to reach my goal of 8000 steps per day. There are so free youtube videos for walking in place, so that's a great place to start.
DeleteExercise and writing projects are great goals! It is also nice to have the encouragement of others as you go along.
ReplyDeleteHi Mrs. White :) Yes, two areas where I need more focus :) It does help to have others working along with you.
DeleteMy kids and grandkids loved all the Fisherprice toys when they were little. I had fun playing with them too. :)
ReplyDeleteKaren, I was so excited when I found them! It brought back lots of memories :)
DeleteLet's here it for new monthly goals! I enjoy new challenges and fresh goals. Especially monthly ones - which seem so much more attainable than yearly (or life overhaul) ones! I also love finds at your favorite resale shop!! Yeah:)
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you are going to have a challenging November in the best way! Now I need some of that mojo.
