A Look Back

This was the grazing pasture that had to be re-seeded every year.
We would plant rye grass for the horses and let it grow for several months.
When they would finally get turned back into the pasture, they were so happy!

Good morning friends!

It's Monday morning and I thought I would share a little bit of history with you today...

history of our family, that is.

We once owned a little piece of country,

a farmhouse,

and two horses.

Here's David with Emmy, our first grand baby.
Those are the horses - Lady and Peanut.

Those horses were given to us by a woman who couldn't keep them.
But a word of advice..."free horses" are never free!
But that's a long story for another day🤠

This is our farmhouse.
It was actually David's grandparent's house,
and the first house we lived in when
we got married.
We also brought our first son home to this house...
straight to his Noah's Ark themed nursery.

Every holiday I would decorate the front porch.
We also had a photography venue business here one year.
Many family photos were taken on this porch and
around the horses.

David and I would also host friends and family here
for "front porch singings."
It was a lot of fun.

We made a lot of good memories here.

Ted and Alex got married here,

under the carport that we turned into a rustic

wedding scene,

complete with hay, old doors,

and an old jeep as the

Just Married getaway car.

This is where our kids grew up, with their grandparents

 right across the driveway.

Lot's of family history on this land.

Lots of good memories.

But sometimes life needs a change

and you have to make hard decisions

to let things go.

We will always miss this little farm

and farmhouse.

We definitely miss the horses.

But who knew we would live on a lake one day?

God. He's the orchestrator of all good things.

Now we're making new memories with our own

grandkids and so far, it's working out just fine.

Until Next Time...

Blessings!

  2. Such a sweet post - but I feel rather sad. I miss that farm (for you) and miss those horses. Reminds me much of my grandparents place when I was growing up as a child. I miss that, too! Bittersweet memories...is that correct term! Thanks for sharing:)

    1. Jennifer, we do get sad about it at times. It had been in the family for many years.
