Hello Friends!
What a busy week it's been and it's only Tuesday!
Last week Collin and Morgan (and baby Asa) started moving into a new townhouse in the next town over, and I've been helping them by keeping Asa some and loading up the suburban and moving boxes and other small items. Today I will be taking another load of small things and they will be getting a new stackable washer and dryer delivered. What an exciting time!
I love watching my kids move from season to season. It reminds me of all the "first" places David and I lived in, in the early years, and brings back sweet memories. Even though some of the places were in great need of renovation, we spent many years painting, cleaning, wall papering and doing projects together, which created many memories and such appreciation for the next house.
Yesterday I clocked over 8000 steps on my FitBit 😅 which isn't much compared to Karen 😅 but it was nice to hit that goal.
As you know from my last post, I was up early, so I was out the door to run errands by 8:30. I love going out in the morning, when the world is moving here and there and it feels like everyone is starting their day together.
I had a deposit to make at the bank, a return to the UPS store, a stop at Hobby Lobby, and then some time at the grocery store to replenish some things, since I didn't buy much last week. I try my best to combine errands, so I'm only going a few times a week, if that. Also...gas.
The tricky thing about running errands in the morning is that I always get hungry. It takes a lot to satisfy my metabolism in the mornings, so I've learned to put a snack in my purse, in case I'm still in the middle of my route and yet, start to feel shaky. I hate when that happens! So yesterday I put a bottle of water and some pistachios in my purse and sure enough, by the time I was checking out at the grocery store, I could feel myself running out of fuel.
Anyway, I made it home, unloaded the groceries, ate lunch and all was well. Those pistachios saved me on the drive home.
The rest of the day was spent doing a bit of office work, laundry, some light house work and making sloppy joes for dinner.
David went straight to the kid's new place to hang Collin's guitars, so I spent a nice hour sitting and watching episodes of Heartland.
Today I'm excited to spend part of the day with Morgan and Asa, moving things, while Collin and Morgan's dad go to Houston to get the washer and dryer. (They are the ones delivering 😅) I love setting up a new house, or in this case, just helping and giving ideas about where to put this or that. David will have to come back over and hang curtain rods, the tv and help move the bigger furniture at the end of the week and then they should be all moved in.
This morning, before heading to Morgan's, I will be procrastinating making phone calls that have been on my list for weeks. One is to an insurance agent, looking for better prices, and one is to Godaddy about my domain that needs renewing. Uggg...I'm not one for making calls like this, so I put it off as long as possible. I fear today is the day.
I hope you all have an amazing Tuesday!
Until Next Time...
Blessings!
It sounds like things are moving nicely for the kids. I hope they enjoy their new residence. Have a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cheryl :) The move is going well. They are so excited!
DeleteI hope the new home is a place of much joy and blessing for your sweet kids! Moving into a new place can be so stressful....how wonderful that you are there to help. You are a smart gal to put a healthy snack in your purse when you run errands. That decision probably kept you from the McDonald's drive-thru! I am the same way as you on comments. I generally respond to every single one (as I feel like a comment is part of a conversation, so not responding makes it seem like the commenter is talking to one's self), but sometimes, I get behind and just can't. Well, have a great day!!
ReplyDeletePatti, I try to respond 99% of the time, but some days I get behind :)
DeleteI have a small tin of almonds in my car for just such emergencies, just having a swig of my water and a couple of nuts can make me feel a whole lot better ... and also stop me from making unwise chocolate and snack related purchases when I'm out and about. :-)
ReplyDeleteSue, I agree! Just a few nuts and some water will stop me from pulling into the drive-thru on the way home :)
DeleteHow funny that we both helped move our sons this week! I have a feeling my son's move was a lot easier than your son's move. 🤣 I don't know how many steps I took yesterday, but my back was yelling at me at the end of the day. I came home and took four ibuprofen! It helped and even though it was a little sore when I went to bed last night, it's been okay today. I'm grateful for that, and that I didn't have to take medicine. As far as being out and getting hungry, this is the same thing I do! I keep snacks in a bag in my purse. I keep things that won't spoil or melt, like protein bars and slim Jim's. I also never leave home without my Hydroflask full of water (it's 24 oz) with only a few pieces of ice inside. I always laugh that I used to keep snacks in my purse for my kids, and now they're all for me.
ReplyDeleteI hope you survive until the end of Collin's and Morgan's move! There's no tired like tired from helping move. I fell asleep within ten minutes of laying down last night, in spite of the excellent book I was trying to read!
Jennifer, today wasn't too bad and I got to play with the baby :) I never leave home without my water either! That's why I know the inside of all the store bathrooms :)
DeleteI've always enjoyed moving to a new place and its a good thing because we've done it 12 times.
ReplyDeleteI don't usually eat between meals but I sure do look forward to my evening snack of ice cream. :)
Good for you for your 8,000 steps. Every step helps. I'm just a bit obsessed with my walking. :)
Karen, you're a walking inspiration! :)
DeleteWait? Didn't you have a comment here...a comment about comments? I know I read that and was going to (well,) comment but now I'm totally missing it. Did I dream that??
