A Peek at the Finished Project - The Toy Closet

Happy Thursday friends! 

Today I am giving you the final peek at the toy closet I put together for my grand babies. This took about two days to complete, only because I've been sick and Monday, when I started the project, I didn't feel like going to the store, so I waited until Tuesday to get the baskets and hooks I needed.

Here's where I left it on Monday. I used old books that I had on the shelf and a bottle of Modge Podge that was just sitting on my craft cart. I gathered the pages I wanted to use and simply brushed the glue on the wall or sometimes on the back of the page with a paintbrush and stuck it to the wall.
 

Then I just started adding things, like this book shelf I had in another room. The red and green baskets all came from the Dollar Tree. And the curtains were ones I had packed away in a closet. 

Once I had all the big pieces in place where I thought they looked best, then I put the hooks on the wall and added the baskets. 

I saw the "hook and basket" project on Pinterest and thought it would be perfect for this space.

The hooks also came from the Dollar Tree. They are just the white hooks that have the adhesive on the back and I had to be sure and choose baskets that had holes that would fit on the hooks. So keep that in mind if you decide to use this idea. 

Once the baskets were in place, I started loading in all the toys. This was fun and only took me a little time to sort everything in its place. 

It's hard to get a good picture with proper lighting because it's in a closet, but hopefully these will do.

I finished the project Tuesday afternoon and we had family dinner that night, so the girls were thrilled when they saw all of their toys organized and everything in one spot.  Emmy was a little concerned that I had torn pages out of a book, but I reassured her that it was ok for this project and that she could have fun reading the stories as she played. 

I'm so thrilled with how this turned out because my motivation was basically to make something out of what I already had and not have to paint or spend a bunch of time or money.

So the overall price of this little project probably cost me around $15 for the baskets and hooks and I had a few left over, so really it only cost about $10.00 and the supplies I already had on hand. 

It's always a good feeling to use up what you already have!
