Happy Friday, Friends! And welcome to a brand new month!
May signifies so many things in my mind. It always seems to be such a busy month, with birthdays, graduations, end of the school activities and celebrations of some sort. It's definitely the month when I start feeling that summer nostalgia for playing outside, blowing bubbles and cooling off with my feet in the baby pool and fruit flavored popsicles. Actually, that's what the kids do 😅 Usually while I'm running inside for a towel, paper towels, bug spray or more snacks. But it's still fun 😀😎
Speaking of fun...
I was showing the girls some old photos yesterday and I came across these signs that David and I had made many years ago.
Both of our dads had "sayings" they were known for and after they both passed away, we wanted to put those sayings in print, so we would always have a good laugh over how silly they were.
I want David to hang them around the garage, just for fun. It would be nice to see them and be reminded of our dads in that way.
Are there any silly sayings in your family? Do these remind you of someone who was always throwing out those silly sentences?
Feel free to share 😀
Have a great Friday!
Until Next Time...
Blessings!

What a wonderful way to remember loved ones! At first I couldn’t think of any family sayings but then it came back to me. My grandmother would say “I’m so mad I could spit”; my father would be working on a project and it’s it wasn’t going well, he would say “dirty bugger” which was as close to swearing as he ever got; and the whole family saying was “while you’re up…” which was said pretty much anytime someone got up from a chair and someone else wanted something and was too lazy to get it for themselves! ReplyDeleteJenny - I love those :) The "while you're up..." that's a handy one!
DeleteThis is the best! It's a great idea and will make you smile everytime you see them.
ReplyDeleteMari, exactly!
DeleteI love all the signs, they made me smile. Most of them are very familiar to me from my own family. Happy first day of May, it's pouring rain here, might be headed your way!!
ReplyDeleteMary, it's been raining so hard here since last night! Everything will be green, green next week :)
Delete"Just considering the whichness of what." (my late husband)
ReplyDeleteBarbara, I've never heard that one!
DeleteLove the signs! Happy May to you, Debbie!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Robin! Happy May to you!
DeleteWhat a great way to remember the sayings. My mom had a saying for everything!!
ReplyDeleteKaren, I love that :) Little reminders of people.
DeleteThanks for the smiles...we have a few funny sayings/signs. I will have to show them at some point, smiles. Wishing you a beautiful evening.
ReplyDeleteYou'll have to share :)
DeleteCute - love the signs. Many were said in my family and still by me!
ReplyDeleteMy Great Grandmother always said, "Aw Shaw", "Well if that don't beat a hen a'loping!", "Done or raw, fill a craw". My Daddy always had a joke to tell. I think I will have to sit down and make a list of all the sayings that have floated around in my family for generations! Maybe I will make some of those signs! Thanks for sharing, Debbie!
ReplyDeleteGrace & Peace,
Pam
My favorite is the one about Brother Ben shot a goose and killed a Hen.
ReplyDeleteThe one about Lord willing and the creek don't rise is one I use a lot, haha.
Hello!!! I absolutely adore these!!! My sweet momma had a favorite saying...when she wanted to convey "Big Deal" she would say..."Whoopie Ding Dong Do!""
ReplyDeleteThose signs will keep making you smile as you remember! Very precious!
ReplyDeleteFun idea...and won't they bring smiles when you get them hung up together! I had a few come to mind. My mom (and her mom!) were famous for "sayings"! When startled (or otherwise jarred), my mom would say "God bless America and all its Indians." Not sure we're allowed to say that now but I heard it alot as a kid. I also heard "more _________ than Carter's got little liver pills!" What in the world that meant, I have no idea!:!:)
