Well, it's Saturday and it feels good to sit down and write out some thoughts and catch up with my favorite blogging friends.
I hope you all have had a great week.
My week was full of school with my girls, visiting two different libraries looking for specific titles the girls wanted to read, several videos from Asa and Sunday, wishing my mom a happy 83rd birthday and chats with several friends and one sister during the week. We also had family dinner on Tuesday night, so basically I had a week full of family, friends and home, which is just the perfect combination, if you ask me.
Around the house - I sat this pile of linens on the bed at some point and later, when walking by, I glanced in the room and was reminded of my grandmother for some reason. Who knows if it was an actual memory or what, but I stopped to take a picture because it had the element of something old fashioned, which I love.
As a young girl I hung many a piles of clothes on the clothesline outside. I remember wearing the little apron around my waist, full of clothespins, stepping on my tiptoes to reach the top of the line to pin the clothes up there.
There was another day that I unwrapped a fresh bar of soap and again, the feel of the bar and the way Ivory hasn't really changed in all of these years, had me feeling nostalgic. To all the big influencers out there...this has been working as a face wash for all of my years. You don't really need all of that fancy stuff. Just a free tidbit for you 😉
But let's move on to other random thoughts from this week...
Random Thought #1
Do you ever wonder how some people end up at the front desk of a business, when their personalities are absolutely not right for the position? Not to be harsh, but some people are just better suited to be in the back room and not the first person to greet the customers. And that's ok! Not everyone has a personality for customer service. I think it's up to the supervisor to do a better job of putting people up front who act like they like people or are enjoying life. No one wants to see a sour face and crummy attitude at the front desk. It's so unpleasant and unprofessional.
Random Thought #2
I've been watching budgeting videos in my spare time this week. Have you ever used the cash envelope system? I've tried it many times and totally failed at it. But I was so shocked at the number of youtube channels that show how to stuff your cash envelopes! I think it's the perfect hobby for someone who loves to be creative, loves budgeting and wants to get a handle on spending. So guess what? I'm giving it another try. I'll let you know how it goes 😅
Random Thought #3
Check on your friends. I checked on a few of my close friends this week and they all have major things going on in their lives. One was actually at the hospital with her dad when I texted her. I'm glad I followed the prompting to check on her because it gave me the opportunity to pray for her dad afterwards. Another is stressed over various aspects of her life and we had a good talk about the Lord and life. It's always nice to be checked on, but sometimes it's time to check on others. Many times the Holy Spirit will give you that nudge and we write it off as just thinking about someone. But really, it's a prompt to let you know they need you as a friend. So here's your friendly reminder 💛
Well, that's it for today. I must be off to help David build a playhouse in the backyard. The kids are going to be so surprised when they see it!
I hope you have a wonderful Saturday and I'll catch up with you next week!
Until Next Time...
Blessings!
Can you believe I am allergic to Ivory! Have been all my life. Another wonderful post, Debbie. Wishing you a beautiful Sunday.
ReplyDeleteLinda, that's crazy! That would be painful to discover :)
DeleteHow fun to build the playhouse! I agree with all of your random thoughts. I am curious about the cash envelope system. Years ago, I tried to use it once, but wonder if there is a new take on this? Happy birthday to your mom! My mom turns 84 this week.
ReplyDeleteMarilyn, there are so many youtube videos on this system now. People make a huge game of it, with savings challenges and all sorts of ways to save. I think it's the perfect combination for someone who wants to get on track with their money, but loves creativity too.
DeleteSounds like a lovely week. I think many of the 'older' and 'old fashioned' things are the best. I have several Ivory soap bars in the cabinet.
ReplyDeleteLike the random thoughts. Hope your mom had a lovely birthday!
Thank you Cheryl. I agree on the old fashioned ways :)
DeleteRegarding your Random Thought #3: yes, employers should give serious attention to the people their customers will encounter first. First impressions do just that -- they make an impression! And it needs to be a positive one!!
ReplyDeleteBarbara, I agree :) It instantly gives you an impression of the business you're walking into.
DeleteA few years ago I went to a friend's beach house and she has Ivory in the outdoor shower - such nostalgia! And now I'm buying it!
ReplyDeleteYes! I use Ivory a lot on my face too (that or a local goat milk soap) and rarely have any issues. Totally agree with your random thoughts. I sent out some "happy" cards not that long ago and got a call from one of my best friends that I pretty much never see since she lives over an hour away.. her father had passed away and she was shocked to see a card from me and then cried when she realized it wasn't a sympathy card but just a "miss you/thinking of you" as she thought the timing was just perfect.
ReplyDeleteLove all the tidbits my Friend! I get nostalgia moments like that too. I need to look up what a cash envelope system is. Hmmm I try to keep up with my friends regularly too. We even zoomed all together the other day (we used to do it all the time during covid). Blessings on your week ahead! xo
ReplyDeleteGreat reminders! Check on your friends...and be so grateful when friends check on you. Ivory soap is a great facewash. All you need, truthfully:) And I think that pile of washed laundry does look nostalgic. And sweet! I love simple, sweet memories! Happy Monday to you...have a great week!
ReplyDeleteYes, on the Ivory soap! And I just started using Ponds Cold Cream to remove my makeup! I don't know how things got so complicated and expensive. It was good enough for our grandmothers than it's good enough for us. So inexpensive too. I like to keep things simple. I've never tried the envelope system, but like you I've seen it on YouTube many times. I think there might be something to it. Especially at the grocery store! : )
