For lunch I let them dye their mashed potatoes with green food coloring and we had a great day learning all about St. Patrick and what a great missionary he was. After lunch we watched a few videos about learning the Irish dance and gave it a try. It's not easy!
Teaching in themes, or known as unit studies, has always been one of my favorite ways to teach. We will be doing a lot of themes on our homeschooling days, in fact. The next one coming up will be all things Spring and of course, Easter.
Now...on to other things...
Like I said, the allergies are getting the best of me right now, so I've been moving kind of slow for the past few days. My to-do list is not getting checked off as quickly as I would like it to. I did manage to make it to the post office and to a hair appointment to get my hair trimmed. The hair dresser was sniffling too, so I wasn't the only one suffering. Then I came home and basically did nothing but clean the kitchen and feed myself a few times 😅 David and I watched one show together and then I was off to bed.
Today will be spent at home, working on school plans for next week, laundry and hopefully cooking a good meal for supper.
And probably a lot of sniffling 😏
Take care everyone. See you soon.
Until Next Time...
Blessings!
I hope your allergies let up soon. I loved teaching units/themes with my students. They thought they were having fun while we learned. Win-win!

ReplyDeleteFeel better, my friend. Allergies. Ugh. Unit teaching is the best!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun unit lesson! I love anything with a theme. I love her little school shirt :). Hope you feel better today.
ReplyDeleteYou are the funniest of teachers! A theme just takes anything up a notch! I hope you feel 100 percent soon! Can it really be allergy season? If it means spring...well, I suppose I will not complain (of course, I don't have allergies either!?):)
ReplyDeleteI wish my kids could have gone to Millie's school!
ReplyDeleteI love how you handle the teaching - themes. Neat idea and I bet it sure is fun!
ReplyDeleteFeel better - allergies are a bummer.
You picked such fun moments to celebrate St. Paddy's day. I hear the allergies are coming extra early this year. Still snow here up north but I know it's just a matter of time. Ugh. 🙈 Have a very blessed weekend ahead. xo
ReplyDeleteTheme teaching sounds like such a great idea. I'm sure the girls love it. I know I would have when I was a kid. :)
ReplyDeletePrecious picture of your granddaughter in her green cap with her green drink.
ReplyDeleteYour theme studies sound like a fun way to do school.
Hope your allergies don't last too long. They can make you feel so miseable.
{{{grinning}}} I want to be adopted into your family; this looks like such a fun day. Wishing you a beautiful Friday, my friend.
ReplyDeleteThe wind has done the same here, Mr D and I are both down with allergies. Hope you feel better soon. Your St Pats Day decorations for the grands was so cute, visuals are a great teaching tool, and they made precious memories too.
ReplyDeleteYour guess on my Wordless Wednesday post was correct. I had ordered a battery, and that's how it arrived.
ReplyDeleteUgh! Allergies are the worst! Hope you have relief soon!
ReplyDeleteWe usually sit on our front porch after our daily bike ride. The bistro table and chairs have been covered with the yellow dust of pollen. I wipe them down with hopes we aren't breathing in too much of the stuff.
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel much better very soon!
Your "unit" on St. Patrick's Day looks informative and fun! You make school lessons so enjoyable!
