Good Monday morning, my friends!
I hope you had a restful weekend. Due to some allergies, we had an easy going weekend, just hanging around the house, sneezing and keeping busy.
I convinced David to help me hang some pictures (finally) and I decorated my mantle.
Due to me not working now, I've had to tighten the budget and cook at home more than I had been. I don't mind cooking, it's the meal planning that I don't enjoy. I remember when we were newly married and we ate the same 5 meals every week. It was simple, easy and we enjoyed the meals. I need to go back to that sensible way of doing things.
I often think about what kind of legacy I want to leave and that would be a good one. People don't care what you did for a living, where you worked or how much money you made. They remember who you were and how you made them and others feel.
Today I will be getting the girl's school work prepared and tending to household things, such as cleaning and folding laundry. I have a to-do list that needs to be worked on and a book I would love to finish. I will also be digging through the freezer, deciding what dinner will be tonight. Later I will walk to the mailbox and mail a real letter I have written to a friend. This will be the 3rd real letter I've mailed in the past few weeks. I think I'll bring back letter writing. What do you think? 📫
I hope this Monday finds you well and happy. 💛
Until Next Time...
Blessings!
It's looking beautiful around you!
ReplyDeleteGoing through the freezer is a good idea, I need to do that too.
Letter writing is a good idea and anyone getting them will be blessed.
Thanks Mari! I love getting mail :)
DeleteThe picture of the oatmeal cookies looks delicious. Your mantel looks awesome. I love to write letters, so whoever receives yours will be blessed. So, what is for dinner tonight? We are having leftovers. Happy March, Debbie!
ReplyDeleteRobin, beef patties, veggies, mac and cheese. Just good old standards :)
DeleteI said the same thing about 1000 piece puzzles; 500 are definitely more my speed.
ReplyDeleteJoanne, much to my dismay...the next puzzle in my cabinet happens to be a 1000 piece. I might have to take a break :)
DeleteWe have had some beautiful weather here in Texas and sitting outside and enjoying it has been happening around here too. Your mantle looks so good!! Love the cute sign Debbie..did you make it? With your talents, I know you easily could. Your yard looks so nice and all of that space is wonderful. I'm with you when it comes to figuring out what we are going to eat for the week. It has been so difficult lately because Sam cannot eat so many things. How sweet the have the oatmeal cookie recipe from your step mom. They look delicious! Wishing you and the kids a good week with the studies. They are blessed to have you do this. I'm tossing a little sparkle your way...Have a great week
ReplyDeleteShug, my DIL made the sign on the mantle, but it actually needs some updating. I think we've added a few grandchildren since then :)
DeleteI agree with you about meal planning!
ReplyDeleteKathy, I'm going to just start pulling things out of the freezer and see what happens :)
DeleteLove the mantle and your spot with the bench.
ReplyDeleteYour legacy will be a great one for your grands and children. They will remember all the special things. This blog is also legacy - filled with such love and caring.
Thank you Cheryl :) That means so much.
DeleteI love oatmeal cookies. NICE puzzle, we like the 1000 piece size.
ReplyDeleteKaren, I love oatmeal cookies too. And maybe I'll get faster at the 1000 piece if I do a few more.
DeleteI know you are busy but I would like to see your recipes, possibly put together in one place. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteOh Linda...I'll keep that in mind :)
DeleteI don't meal plan anymore. Actually I really never did but for a time I did try. I never cooked anything I had planned, though, so I went back to how my Mama and my Grandma did it. Go to the freezer or cabinet, take a peek at whats inside and go from there. We have a rule at my table. You get what you get and you don't throw a fit. LoL. It works.
ReplyDeletePam, I like that little rule :) Rather than meal plan, what used to work well for me was just making a list of meals, having things on hand and then cooking whatever I was in the mood for, off that list. I never could stick to the certain days either.
DeleteHi friend! It's so good to finally sit down and comment, I do keep up with your blogs just usually on my phone so today I'm playing catchup with your last few posts and I wanted to say hi! I want to cook more at home, and I'm trying new recipes but there are a few that I keep coming back too as usual. I'm glad you're doing well and readjusting to being home again! I'm so glad you could come back home, to your real job :)
ReplyDeleteI also like to take my Bible outside to read, pray, and listen to God. Enjoyed visiting today, hope you're enjoying a great day.
ReplyDeleteBringing back letter-writing -- it's a nice thought but unfortunately over recent years (not just one year, but several), the USPS has really messed up delivering cards and packages between me and family in FL, IL and NM. I mean, really, irresponsible handling. That, combined with the ease of email, well, my opinion is that old-fashioned letter writing as we once knew it is truly becoming a thing of the past. But you go ahead and give it a try. A good letter is always appreciated.
ReplyDeleteYour mantel looks very nice. I especially like the piece with the dates of your marriage, the arrival of children and grands. That is very cool.
Hello my dear Friend!
ReplyDeleteIt looks so beautiful there. I LOVE when it gets warmer here and I can do devotional and prayer time outside too. Right now I often put on a nature or birdsong scene on my laptop so I can have that feel as the sun pours in the window. Lol
What sometimes helps me when I want to stretch the menu and make it easier in a week is I find a way to make the leftovers of one dish get turned into a completely different dish with just a few ingredients. Like making a slow cooker seasoned meat with potatoes and veggies one meal. Get turned into a pasta dish or a salad for the next meal. Killing 2 meals with one stone so to speak. Lol
Blessings to you and on the rest of your week. xo
I enjoy doing 1,000 piece puzzles, but that one you just finished looks really hard.
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday and March to you! I'm a bit late getting around to blog reading but hope that you have had a good start to this new month. And that there has been much less sneezing:) Just this morning, while I was walking, I thought much about my legacy. Does that mean I'm getting old? But it really is important to consider...
ReplyDeleteI love your puzzle! I added it to my Amazon cart when I saw it on your last post! Don't know that I can finish a 1000 piece puzzle but I love the picture!!
Oh I think letter writing is a wonderful idea! I don't even know when I last wrote a letter. Your cookies look yummy and I will admit the picture of your yard with actual flowers and trees with leaves and green grass. Oh my!!! I cannot wait until we have those things here...a few more weeks for leaves we do not even have buds yet. That puzzle though. Your mantle is lovely. I'm so happy its March!!! Have a good week my friend.
