It's been a somber week, my friends. But it's also been a week of waking up a sleeping church and for that, I am truly thankful.
And to be honest...it seems frivolous to come here and write about things that aren't as important, but then again...they are. Because life is about living and whether it's housework, spending time with family, celebrating a 10 year old's birthday, or enjoying some time at the bookstore, that's what freedom looks like and that is to be celebrated.
But, I'll tell you...life feels different now. I feel different. My eyes have been opened to the hatred that spews from people who hate in ways that are hard to comprehend. I will never comprehend that level of hatred and I'm glad. Evil is being exposed and brought to light. Teachers, nurses, doctors, customer service people, business owners and others are being exposed for the hate that is within them and I'm all for them being removed from their places of position. Especially those who have access to the minds of children or young adults.
For years we've seen good kids go off to college, only to be indoctrinated and turn from the ways of their families. But this is a whole new level. These days the indoctrination is pure hatred for those who think differently; those who are trying to maintain conservative and Christian values. And it's time for the church to stand up and defend what we stand for. And finally - on the heels of Charlie Kirk having to give his life - we are rising up and speaking out and all I can say is - it's about time.
I do believe standing up can be done respectfully - Charlie taught us that - but it needs to be done. We can no longer sit back and be apathetic. We can't leave the Good News to other people. It has to come from all of us, because we all reach different people and it's our responsibility to do so.
This will most likely be my last post about this (not making any promises), but for now I'll just leave it at this...stand up for your family. Stand up against evil. Protect your children and your grandchildren. Speak out against someone spewing hatred that celebrates a godly man being gunned down in public. At the very least - this is decent humanity.
We don't all have to agree, but we absolutely must agree that life is valuable and it's not yours or mine to take.
I hope this week finds you bold in all the right ways. Stand up for Jesus. After all...he was willing to die for you.
Until Next Time...
Blessings ๐
It was an awful week. I am sick of children being gunned down in schools. When will it stop?
ReplyDeleteI agree Elle. It's all sin and it only stops when people turn to God.
DeleteAmen. I agree with all your thoughts! I don't visit here often and have never commented. But, I believe I saw once that you're in Texas well I am too!
ReplyDeleteGod bless you and yours ๐งก๐ค๐
Hi Rose :) Yes, we are in Texas and still sweating at 94 degrees! Glad you stopped by today :)
DeleteGod and people that believe in His word are being assaulted. We must stand up and speak. I have seen many peaceful prayer vigils happening the past few days - and that is wonderful. Things are not as they were when I was growing up at all - and that is sad to me.
ReplyDeleteMe too, Cheryl.
DeleteAmen! I have nothing more to add but to say I agree.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by today Mari :)
DeleteAmen!
ReplyDeleteAmen :)
DeleteYou've said it all. It's been a horrible week, my heart is so grieved and so sore over it all, but especially the assassination of Charlie, a man of God. The hatred and evil that has come out of it has actually shocked me, I've always known there was evil amongst us, but it's so blatant in our face that it's shocking.
ReplyDeleteI pray for Erika and their two beautiful children. I am thankful that God gave us Charlie for a season, and that through his martyrdom, we are seeing a huge revival take place.
God bless my sister in Christ,
Sandra
Sandra, you said it perfectly. We are seeing a revival taking place and it's amazing how God will take something the devil meant for evil and use it for good. Thanks for leaving a comment today :)
DeleteI am not a religious person at all, yet I gladly stand up for Charlie Kirk. For me, it has nothing to do with religion but rather just not being a piece of trash person. Anyone that relishes and laughs when a person is murdered because they believe different is just a horrible, evil person.
ReplyDeleteJess, I'm glad you stopped by and left this comment. You're so right...it's not about religion, it's about being a decent human being that cares about others. Thanks for being here today.
DeleteFirst, I want to say your pictures of the pretty purple tulips are fantastic. What a perfectly written post, Debbie! We must stand up and defeat the evilness that is trying to take over human decency. We need to wipe out the darkness with light and promote kindness, compassion, and decency.
ReplyDeleteYou're right Robin! At the very least, be a decent, kind human.
DeleteDebbie, like you, I have thought it strange to write about the ordinary pleasures of life in light of how serious things have become this past week. I like what you said, “Life is about …. and that is to be celebrated.”
ReplyDeleteYes, my eyes, too, have been opened to more hatred than I realized was out there. With that said, I now ask myself, how could I have been so blind when I keep up with the news/current events as much as most people do.
All you have said is so true.
The photos you posted of the dark purple tulips — how appropriate.
Thank you for commenting Barbara. Once we know better, we have to do better.
Delete"It's worth it to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year, so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights. That is a prudent deal. It is rational." - Charlie Kirk
ReplyDeleteSue, I assume your comment is meant to justify Charlie's death? Nothing justifies an evil, hate-filled coward gunning down a man in cold blood, while he welcomes others to come have dialogue with him. Taking one sentence out of context won't change or justify the fact that liberals are making haters out of our younger generation and this is the result.
DeleteBeautifully said my friend. Thank you, truly. smiles
ReplyDeleteThank you, Linda.
DeleteWe live in awful times and need Jesus to come back and save us all! I don't understand the hatred either. And why people get so locked in and don't listen to one another. If we all loved our neighbors as ourselves what an amazing world this would be! Love, peace, unity - I pray for it all the time. Big hugs and love to you. xoxo
ReplyDeleteSo true, Carrie. But the ones who carry evil in their hearts will never see it the way we see it. This is definitely a spiritual battle between good and evil.
DeleteIMO it's a little harsh to remove folks from their jobs because they spew immature drivel based on politics. That's a slippery slope that was done under old school communist states China and Russia, under Stalin and Mao. Unless laws are broken, reconciliation is the way forward...Sweetallysum
ReplyDeleteSweetallysum, I think at this point, it's a character issue. When you have people who celebrate death, how can we trust them as doctors, teachers, and people who fix our food, sell us goods, etc.? THAT is the slippery slope, in my opinion. Especially in those arenas where they have influence over young people. But even in the very least of jobs, I wouldn't want to stare into the face of someone who celebrated the shooting of a man in cold blood, would you? When George Floyd died, we had riots, name calling and all manner of chaos. Had anyone dared to disparage his name, more violence would have taken place. Those are facts. All we're asking for in the death of Charlie, who was a godly man, is respect. You don't even have to be a follower of Christ to be a decent human. I sure hope all of those who have celebrated death, don't have any young person they are in charge of.
DeleteAmen!
ReplyDeleteDear Debbie...my thoughts exactly in what you have written. I have learned this week to stay away from things posted on Face Book in regards to this horrible shooting. It is way too easy for people to write mean comments for which I know comes from the evil in this world. My heart has been so heavy and yet I am happy to know that the younger generation has been pouring out their hearts in the good things that came from Charlie Kirk. The colors you chose to use in this post are perfect.. Blessing my sweet friend.. thank you for always sharing from your heart.
