We Watched a Good Movie (But we hate the time change)!

 Happy Monday my Friends!

Every morning I've been waking up and saying "Thank you, Lord, for new mercies and a fresh start!" I love that each new day brings a new beginning.

Yesterday was a good day. We had a great message at church, where the pastor explained the importance of supporting Israel. It's not a political thing, but a biblical thing. I was so pleased that he showed us exactly where the scriptures talk about supporting Israel and what happens to nations that don't. I think many are afraid to speak out on this situation, for fear of retaliation from the online bullies. But these are the things we need to be bold about, because the day may come when we can't.

But moving on...

After church David and I went to Saltgrass for their amazing potato soup and salad. It's a great meal when you don't want a sandwich, but you don't want heavy food either. They have the best potato soup of any place I've tried.

We then stopped by David's mom's apartment to see if she needed help packing up for her big move on Tuesday. We visited for a while and then headed home.

The time change is for the birds! David and I were talking about how the shadows start changing around 3-4 pm and everything starts to look gloomy. Then by 5:30 it's pitch black. Who exactly is this benefiting?

I told him that we would have to start leaving more lights on in the evening, so we can trick our brains into feeling like the sun was still out.

Later that afternoon, we watched a great movie, that honestly I thought was only on the Faith and Family channel, but turns out it was actually at the theaters recently! I had no idea! It's called Southern Gospel and it was really good. It was based off a true story. My only complaint was that the main character mumbles and it's hard to understand him sometimes. I've noticed this in other shows, where they are trying to depict a southern accent. Not everyone talks like Elvis, for goodness sakes! Likewise, not all Texans have cows in the backyard, but that's another topic, right? 🤠🐮

Here's the trailer for the show. If you can find it on one of your channels, it's worth watching.

I finished a 750 piece puzzle last night, and now am ready to move on to some embroidery projects while we watch tv in the evenings.

I discovered many years ago, that during the time change and darker months, it helps to have a project to work on at night. This tends to dispel any gloomy feelings in the evenings. Not sure if anyone else finds the winter months gloomy, but sometimes I do.

Today I will be busy helping my mother-in-law finalize all the details for a new apartment she is moving into. For the first time since my FIL passed away, she will have a roommate. Her friend needed a place to live and so they have decided to share an apartment, which is a huge blessing. Today we will get the keys and be able to see the apartment and then start moving some things over. She is very excited to leave the retirement place. She has never been happy living there, so hopefully this will be a better experience for her.

That reminds me of a fun thing I would do as a teen. We lived in apartments for several years and I would always go into the office and ask for the printed floor plans. I would take a few home and sit and draw furniture on the pages and pretend I was staging my future home. This is one of those threads that weave through our lives and show us who we have always been.

I still stage our home, move furniture around, and love looking at homes and apartments and dreaming of where I would put everything.

Do you do that too?

Well, I will spare you all the deep thoughts about threads weaving in and out of our life and how cool that is.

It's Monday and maybe too early for all of that 😅 Maybe another post.

For now I will just say that I hope your Monday is amazing or restful or productive or whatever you're hoping for today.

I'm hoping for all of the above.

Until Next Time...

Blessings!

  1. I am with yu on the time change. Darkness so early serves no one well. I do not like the dark winter months - it is just hard to get a handle on things for me. Less motivation.
    How neat for your MIL!

  2. When I was a little girl (just a short time ago☺) I would sit for hours drawing house plans. I had a folder full of them, wish I still had them. YES, it is very important to support Israel, God tells us to pray for their peace. https://www.gotquestions.org/apple-of-Gods-eye.html I love potato soup, maybe Mr D will take me Saltgrass soon. Blessings☺♥

  3. What? Not all Texans have cows in their backyard? Sigh. I'm so disappointed......:) The move for your MIL sounds exciting and even fun. Hope it is a great experience for her. I am trying to have a good attitude with the time change. But the sun setting so incredibly earlier really is depressing. Your morning "mantra" is a great way to start the day - and to help with a bit of my needed attitude adjustment. Mind if I borrow that?? Happy Monday to you, friend!

  4. Not me, I like the time change back to the standard time. I 'd rather have the light in the morning. I like the early winter evenings - nice and cozy.
I'm always moving things around in my house. When I go into a house I always change their furniture around in my head. :)

  5. I am in the minority but I like the time change. I like when it is dark earlier at this time of year. It's cozy. I don't like waking up in the dark though.

  6. Our pastor has also been talking about the importance of supporting Israel. I feel like it's a blessing to attend churches where that's being preached! He even started a special series on Wednesday nights titled Israel, Prophecy, and the Middle East. It's been fascinating! On a lighter note, those are great things to do at night! I wish I was a puzzle person, but I'm really not. I always want to keep trying, though... I just need to start with something small enough that I don't get overwhelmed. I read at night a lot of the time, which is always something I love doing. I also work on my blog during that time! Sometimes it is nice having something to do with my hands, and being on the computer feels like that.

I am glad your week got started off on the right foot!
