Where last week felt "off," this week feels cozy and inviting. The weather has been cool and rainy, but not the kind of weather you dread. More like the kind that you enjoy, while staying home and cooking or wrapping presents.
That's exactly the kind of day I had yesterday.
I woke up in the mood to cook, with the motive of not having to cook much the rest of the week.
For breakfast I browned some breakfast sausage, froze three baggies of it for later and mixed several spoonfuls with some scrambled eggs for the next few days.
For lunch I made chicken salad - enough for several days.
I had a bunch of potatoes and carrots in the fridge that needed to be used, so I spent 30 minutes in the kitchen, listening to a podcast, while cutting potatoes, carrots and onions, and putting them in the crockpot to cook slowly, all day. I put some in the fridge for a few meals, and added 3 baggies to the freezer for the future.
I also cooked some beef patties, which we can have with veggies or a side dish or eat as an actual burger on a bun.
I like this method of cooking because we have choices already made and ready, whatever the mood, rather than waiting until we're hungry and having to cook each day. We'll see how it goes.

The rest of the day was very enjoyable and cozy.
I had a phone call from my oldest friend (as in...from high school), and we talked for probably two hours, catching up on our lives. It was so nice to have a day where a long phone call was not cut short by other obligations.
Later I decided to wrap some Christmas gifts, while watching a movie called "The Intern" with Anne Hathaway and Robert DeNiro. With the exception of a few words, which were totally out of place (as always), it was a really good show.
I had my afternoon coffee and later that day I called my Daughter-in-love, Morgan, to check up on her and the baby. She had been on my mind all day and I've learned to check on people when they continually come to mind. Sure enough, she had been feeling kind of sick with a cold all day. We ended up on FaceTime and I got to see little Asa "live and in action" 😅 He's the sweetest thing!
After David got home for the day, I cut his hair, which I had not done in a few months! It was way overdue. But we got that done and then we were able to settle in for the night and relax.

I wish I could say that today will be a repeat of yesterday, but I have things that need to get done today and then tonight David and I have an event to attend. I'll tell you all about it later this week.
So, that means half a day at home and the other half getting ready and being gone for the evening. After having such a cozy day yesterday, I really don't want to leave my little cottage. But I will.
But speaking of cozy, I wanted to share this video that my son Ted made. He composed the music and created this video on his computer. I think I will play this on repeat this week, whenever I need some cozy music to listen to. I hope you enjoy it too.
Have a beautifully, cozy day, my friends.
Until Next Time...
Blessings!
Wonderful thoughts as always Debbie.

ReplyDeleteThanks Karen :) It really was.
DeleteIt sounds like the most wonderful and productive days. I love being prepared with meals ready to go. Enjoy your day, Patty
ReplyDeleteHi Patty! It was a great day and the meals carried us through several days.
DeleteYour cozy day sounds quite productive! For me, cozy is usually more synonymous with lazy - lol! Your day sounds lovely. Hope there is another cozy in the rest of your week!
ReplyDeleteCozy, to me, is more about the tone of the day. At home, in the rain, just having time to cook, catch up, and take things at a leisurely pace....that's cozy to me.
