Well, we've had a few cool days and now it's back to the 80's and humid,
but I put out my Fall decor anyway.
I mean, at some point it has to get cooler, right?
Yesterday was Family Dinner day,
which meant I started cooking before David even left for work.
I was browning sausage for a soup I was making,
plus I baked some cookies for dessert.
Better to do the baking early in the morning,
to keep the kitchen cool later on.
I like to spread out my work,
combined with breaks, lunch, maybe a Youtube video
or two and then back to work.
I work better in small chunks of time,
rather than fast and furious.
So somewhere between cooking and getting the table ready,
I pulled out the Fall decor and very simply
added some things to the table
and a few other areas close by.
We've all agreed that paper products on family night
are the dish of choice.
That way none of us are standing in the kitchen,
loading the dishwasher and missing all the fun.
I've learned that even a table set with paper,
can be festive and fun.
In my last post I mentioned that I would try to find
some cheap mums at the grocery store on Monday.
Well, I did!
These mums were just $3.50 each
(and for good reason).
They looked like they were on their last leg,
but once I got them home,
put them in some pretty containers,
they didn't look so bad.
Family dinner consisted of a yummy soup
called Creamy Sausage Tortellini soup,
which I failed to get a picture of,
but you can see the recipe
It was so good!
We had a salad,
garlic bread,
and these yummy cookies.
After dinner,
some of us sat around the table and
I asked a few fun questions I came up with
earlier in the day.
I thought I'd share some here for fun:
*Which cartoon character would you most like to meet?
*If you were in the olympics, which sport would you participate in?
*Which game show would you be good at?
*If you had to choose, which would you do,
American Idol or Dancing with the Stars?
*If you had a podcast, what would you call it?
I love to get the conversations going with questions!
It always leads to other topics and lots of laughter.
Well, another family dinner here and gone.
Today I am visiting with a friend
and then curling up in my chair and taking a break.
I hope your Wednesday is blessed
and restful 😊
Until Next Time...
Blessings!
Your family dinners sound wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mrs. White :)
DeleteSounds like a fun family time. All looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteThanks Cheryl!
DeleteI must try that soup recipe! It sounds so good. I thought I would answer your questions, just for kicks! Fun way to spend time with family!
ReplyDelete*Which cartoon character would you most like to meet?
Well of course, that Wascally Wabbit, Bugs Bunny!
*If you were in the olympics, which sport would you participate in?
Judging! LoL
*Which game show would you be good at?
Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune
*If you had to choose, which would you do,
American Idol or Dancing with the Stars?
Dancing with the Stars, hands down! I can't think of a better time to be had than dancing with those hunky young men, can you? LoL
*If you had a podcast, what would you call it?
"To Tell The Truth" or "If Truth Be Told" I wouldn't have many subscribers, though, because not many people want to hear the truth these days, do they?
Grace & Peace,
Pam
Pam, this is so fun! My husband's answer was Bugs Bunny!!
DeleteHello, my friend. I absolutely love your family dinners. Your meal sounds delicious, and those cookies! I hope you have a cozy evening in your lovely home!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Billie Jo!
DeleteWhat a great night that must have been, and your house looks so cozy and charming with the Fall decorations! I am such a soup lover, so I am going to check that out. I made taco soup last weekend and we had it for dinner or lunch several times. I may make some chicken tortilla soup this weekend for next week. I love having something ready made that is easy to grab for a quick bite! I like your questions too! I always thought I'd love to be on The Wheel of Fortune. I'm really good at it!
