Happy Friday!
It seems the weeks are flying by right now, which is great, because I'm on the countdown to cooler temperatures!
Yesterday I actually braved the 95 degree weather to let the girls swim for a bit. I stayed on the back porch as much as possible, while they played in the sun. Even with a fan going, there's just no escaping the sweat and heat.
Speaking of lunch...my meal plans have not gone well this week. Although I did make a menu, and bought everything I needed for all the meals, I've actually only made one of the meals on the list.
I've found myself eating some hodgepodge meals and using up some things that I've been looking at for a while.
This plate (above) is what I had for lunch one day. I wanted a sandwich, but also really wanted a salad, but there were some baby potatoes staring at me every time I opened the fridge, and jalapeño chips sounded good too. So the solution? Eat a bit of all of it!
It was a full meal and no afternoon snack was needed, so that was good. Another night I made a pot of chili (yes, I eat soups, stews, and chili all year round), because I still had some meat and beans left from the beef and bean chalupas I made on Monday. The chili was delicious!
I have been using things that need to be used and that's a good feeling, to know I'm not wasting anything.

Today David and I will be attending a funeral of an old friend, then he will head back to work. I'm hoping to come home and spend some time working on my embroidery project. I like to work on it during the afternoons, rather than the evenings, because my eyes seem to be too tired in the evening. I will probably show my progress in a future post.
Tomorrow David and I are taking our granddaughter Addie (4 year old) on her first "date" and she has requested Chucky Cheese, so she can play all the games. With only one of her and two of us, we should be able to keep up with her. I remember taking my boys there and we each had one in our vision at all times. The last time we went there was for Collin's 7th birthday. It was a Saturday and there were about 9 birthday parties going on at the same time and we never went back. It was a madhouse!
So here's hoping an early trip on Saturday morning won't be bad, but regardless, I know we'll enjoy watching her have fun.
Well, I'm off to eat breakfast and get ready for the day. I wish you all a great day full of great things!
Until Next Time...
Blessings!
I completely agree with you about the heat but I recently got a chart of recorded temperatures that go back to the early 1900s in Texas which proves that it's always been hot here. I think when we're younger it doesn't bother us as much. For example, in 1978 on July 15, 16, 17 it was 106, 109, 110 degrees. In 1943 on July 23 it was 106. In 1907 it was 110 on July 30. I say all of that as a reminder that these revolting temps are nothing new and this global warming nonsense is just that. But I'm with you~~looking forward to cooler weather. ReplyDeleteHi Linda :) I remember my childhood and the temps in San Antonio being in the hundreds. I think you're right...kids don't care as much. And I don't believe in global warming :) I'm just getting older and don't like to be uncomfortable these days :)
DeleteI am with you on being on the countdown for cooler temps. I am definitely not a summer gal! (I also don't love the long hours of daylight in the summer---I like it getting dark early.) I look back at who I was in my 20's, and I can't even begin to understand how I used to "lay out" every day in the summer. I was all about getting a tan! How in the world did I lay out in the heat for hours?
ReplyDeleteOoh, I love jalapeno chips. Actually, I love all potato chips (one of my biggest food weaknesses),but jalapeno are probably my most favorite, especially with a big bowl of sour cream to dip them in.
Date day with little Addie sounds grand! Our little Audrey is not quite 2, so although we have her a lot, we haven't yet taken her on a fun outing like that.
Blessings to you!!
Hi Patti! You just brought back memories of laying out the summer after my senior year. I would put baby oil all over, so I would get all that sun. Goodness! And jalenpeno chips are a staple around here :) Can't eat a sandwich without them!
