A Little Food Prep and Lots of Cookies

Good morning friends! Today I am sharing a little bit of my weekend with you.

Just some housekeeping things, but it might inspire one of you to try this in the kitchen.

As you can see...I made some yummy chocolate chip cookies.

Just the typical recipe on the back of the chocolate chip bag.

I only made a small batch because they stay fresher that way.

I used my cookie tin, which you've seen before.
I don't have an official cookie jar (would love one),
so I usually use this tin or my glass cake holder.
But this time I opted for this tin to sit on the table.

But here's what I really wanted to share...
Awhile back, David and I made a trip to Sam's to stock up on some pantry items,
and I bought a big bag of flour, brown sugar, chocolate chips and sugar...
you know...all the emergency items 😁

However, they were still sitting in my pantry, unopened
and I knew I needed to get them into
some better containers, so they would be protected from bugs
or going stale.

I had these gigantic jars handy,
so I packed them full of ingredients
for the long haul.

But then...

While I was making my batch of cookies,

I filled two ziplocs full of the dry ingredients

for the freezer,

plus made two "slice and bake" portions

for the freezer (out of the dough left over from the batch I was baking)

and as you can see...

still had all the raw ingredients for the future.

This is my favorite way of filling my freezer!

I love to do this while making other meals, as well.

I used to do this kind of stocking up when the boys were

little. I would plan on eating a certain meal for dinner,

and while I was preparing it, I would prepare several other bags or

containers of ingredients at the same time.

This saves so much time and effort.

πŸͺπŸͺπŸͺ

And as you can see...I think I'll have plenty of cookies on hand

for the future or in case of emergency.

As it was, I handed off one of the slice and bake portions

to my sweet Morgan (DIL) when she

brought Asa over to stay for a bit.

At the end of a long day with a teething

baby, a momma needs cookies!

That was an emergency!

So there you have it...

kitchen tips for the day.

Just for reference, I've done Chocolate Chip Banana Bread mixes,

Broccoli and Chicken casseroles,

Santa Fe soup, breakfast tacos,

and many more in this same manner

and instantly filled the freezer for the month.

Do you like to do meal prep this way?

If so, tell me how you do it!

I'd love to know πŸ˜€

Until Next Time...

Blessings!

  1. I always put my cookies in the freezer. I have 100 of them in my freezer right now for the kids at Sunday school on June 11. I freeze brownies too and found out I like them better frozen!! :)

    1. I put mine in the freezer too! When I bake a huge batch and want to save some for another week, I'll just bag them up and stick them in the freezer in small batches.

  2. I loved reading this! I love jars filled with everyday ingredients. I think it's a great idea to prepare for meals that way- I haven't ever done that and have never been great at stocking my freezer, except for with extra portions of meat. I know your daughter in love was appreciative of the slice and bake cookies! What a sweet gesture. I would love your broccoli and chicken recipe!
