Hello my friends!
I'm sitting here with my afternoon coffee, thinking it's about time I updated my blog so it doesn't look abandoned.
We were out of town from Friday through Monday, for Mother's Day and a family emergency, and I've been busy catching up around the house since then.
I hit the floor running on Tuesday for a grocery trip. I wanted to stock up on all the basics, so I got up and out pretty early. I love to shop when I'm not in a hurry and when no one is with me. I'm a browser, so I usually go down every aisle to catch any sales that might be going on. I also get meal inspirations as I see things I haven't thought of in a while.
With that out of the way, I've been spending a lot of time in the kitchen this week, but not just for cooking. I also rearranged the fridge and the cabinets and cleaned all the shelves as I went along.
I don't know what got into me, except that I helped my mom move some things around last weekend and I think it inspired me to do the same.
Plus, I had to make a quick trip to Walmart this morning and they had moved the entire store around, and that also made me feel inspired, in a frustrating kind of way. I went in for some very specific items and it took me twice as long because they had moved the entire store around. Which I get! I used to work retail and I know you need to change things, in order for people to see the products in a new way. I think it's good to do that at home too.
I think I mentioned this last week - but when you feel like shopping for something new, but don't want to spend the money, just start moving items around in your own home. It's just as satisfying and cost way less money!
Of course, my one vice while there is always the Pioneer Woman aisle. But on this day, they had a shelf of her stuff sitting right out in the middle and it was love at first sight when I spotted these measuring cups.
I just had to add these to my collection!
And once I got home with these, I spent a few hours taking things out of cabinets, moving stuff from here to there and just giving the kitchen a new look. (My husband will either not notice for a few days or he will notice right away and wonder where his coffee machine went 😀)
The rest of the afternoon was spent sipping on Throat Coat tea, still trying to nurse my throat back to normal. I watched an episode of All Creatures Great and Small and then moved into the office to catch up on blogs, which is always a pleasure.
I hope to be back to a normal routine of reading and posting next week. Of course, what is normal these days? Hmmm?
I feel like each day is it's own adventure!
Until Next Time...
Blessings!
You have a lovely home! I love your idea of moving things around. I hope you feel better! God bless you!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mrs. White. I think the tea is helping :)
DeleteOh I love those measuring cups. I have a small collection. I'll have to go to Walmart (only go a couple times a year) and see if they have them here.
ReplyDeleteI'm always moving things around!!! It runs in my family. Mother and grandmother did the same thing. :)
Karen, that's the first time I've seen those measuring cups, so I'm not sure if they are new or maybe just new to my area. But they are adorable!
DeleteThe measuring cups are very pretty--but I cannot wrap my head around the scalloped rims. How can one measure dry or wet ingredients accurately?
ReplyDeleteSue, that's a fair question :) I guess I would just fill it up just under the scalloped edge and call it good enough :) But that's my way of cooking anyway.
DeleteI love your kitchen and those measuring cups are adorable! I'm just sorry we don't have an Walmart in Portugal.
ReplyDeleteI used to watch the Pioneer Woman, but I stopped watching her show because the delicious recipes she made, made me hungry everytime and I need to loose weight! :P
Have a blessed weekend!
Oh Paula, how I can relate! I used to watch her show faithfully every Saturday morning. They would usually make me want to cook, which was good!
DeleteHer cooking is amazing, but I had to make a choice! :D
DeleteHello! What a beautiful picture of your kitchen! I too love my morning time. Especially in the summer. Have a cozy day, my friend.
ReplyDeleteHi Billie Jo :) Thank you!
DeleteI love anything Pioneer Woman, but I'm on a journey to not bring anything new into my home that isn't absolutely necessary, so even though I look longingly at those products in the store, I don't buy any. And as for rearranging...I do that with decor, but not my kitchen. I'm a creature of habit and putting things in a new location and they trying to remember where they are would probably send me over the bridge, hahaha. Linda, imagesisee.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteLinda, I agree! Since moving into this little cottage, I definitely have to be very choosy about what I add. And as far as the kitchen re-do...I've been so confused this week looking for items :) But it's been good and fun too!
DeleteI immediately noticed you changed your blog! It looks really nice. I'm actually planning on doing the same thing on mine- I tried a new layout over a year ago, and I'm not sure how I still feel about it. We'll see. I'm about to have a whole lot of time on my hands again, and I cannot wait! I hope all is well now in your family, what with the emergency and all. I am sure you were glad to be home and able to move things around some. Your home looks so cozy and inviting! I always love it here, friend. I feel like I'm sitting with a good cup of coffee and talking to a close friend. I hope you have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteHi Jennifer! Thank you for noticing the blog change. I like to do that now and then (kind of like rearranging :) Yes, you're about to have all kinds of time to get back to what you love. I'm so happy for you! I have a feeling if we had coffee, we'd have hours of things to talk about :)
DeleteHappy Monday Millie! We were both thinking the same way last week. I had so much fun reorganizing my panty, I've moved on to kitchen cabinets and this week I'm going to tear apart my home office. You're so right about it saving money. Just moving things around feels like my every day items are brand new! LOL I adore your kitchen and I also would not have been able to resist those measuring cups. Anything Pioneer Woman is so dreamy! Have a wonderful week!
