Good Monday morning, friends! We had a great weekend, with a much anticipated music recital for the girls and a surprise vehicle purchase for me!
For over a year now, David has been hounding me about getting a bigger vehicle and now that we have 5 grandkids, he was more determined than ever to talk me into it.
It's not that I wouldn't appreciate more room, it's just that I didn't want the extra expense of a newer car. But the more I thought about it, the more I had to admit that he was right. I needed a bigger vehicle.
And, as is with my husband (an extreme car guy), he had already spotted "the" one, researched it, test drove it and all the things, before I knew what hit me.
So Saturday, when I thought we were going to just work on the renovation and decorating, we instead ended up at the car lot, buying a new Yukon. It's used, but new to me, and big enough for us to haul all the kids (at some point).
That took up half the day and the rest of the day was spent getting it washed and detailed, eating Mexican food, and David checking out every single button and gadget on the entire vehicle.
My husband is and always has been, a car crazy guy. So getting a new vehicle is like putting a kid in a candy shop! Needless to say, I've heard more about this vehicle over the last two days than I ever wanted to know! I basically just get in and drive. He has to work every button and function and is just fascinated by all of it.
Then Sunday was finally recital day!
The girls have been taking piano lessons at church all semester and it was finally time for them to show off what they've learned. They each played a Christmas tune and both did very well. We're really proud of them. They have a wonderful music school with several opportunities, such as violin, dance, piano, voice, drums and more. I'm curious to see what they choose to do next semester.
Afterwards they had a reception and we took some pictures and then headed home.
David and I have been watching The Crown, so we got home, watched one episode and I had to get to bed. I was done.
Today starts a new week with groceries, laundry, finishing up my Christmas shopping and a few fun things toward the end of the week.
I'm hoping to finish the book I'm reading right now (A Nantucket Christmas) and start another by the end of the week.
So here's to December! It's in full swing and I'm hanging on for the ride! 🎄
Until Next Time...
Blessings!
A new vehicle is always fun!! I love cars. I had three older brothers...that explains that.
ReplyDeleteHey, a short book you may enjoy for the holiday theme is:
MISTER DICKENS and HIS CAROL.By Samantha Silva. If you like the Christmas Carol by Dickens... I'm sure you'll like the new twist. The ending will 'blow you away'.
Three brothers! You get the car thing :) I married into a crazy car family!
DeleteThanks for the book recommendation :)
That new vehicle should give to a good amount of room for all those grandkids. :)
ReplyDeleteYes :) It will be while before I have the boys with me, but the girls will be thrilled!
DeleteCongrats on a new (to you) vehicle! You will love it, most likely. I drove a big Suburban for years and years when the boys were little and loved it so much that I missed it when we got something a little smaller and newer. Nothing drives quite like a Suburban or Tahoe...I think they're pretty similar. It must be so fun to see your little grands perform! When my niece and nephews were younger and I went to watch them play their sport or cheer, it made me very emotional watching them do what they loved. That reminds me of what it must be like as a grandparent. I did the same with my own boys, of course, because I'm such a sap! You're inspiring me in the Christmas shopping...I hope to finish this week as well. Have a great day, friend!
ReplyDeleteHey Jennifer :) I had a Suburban up until Collin started driving himself around and sold it, thinking I wouldn't need another one. But, here I am! You just never know :)
